  • How do you choose between NM400, NM450, and NM500?

The primary differences between NM400, NM450, and NM500 wear-resistant plates lie in their hardness, processing techniques, welding performance, costs, and market prices.
NM400 has a hardness range of 350–450 HB, whereas NM500 is harder, with a range of 480–560 HB. This means NM500 offers superior wear resistance, making it suitable for more demanding operating environments.
The two types of plates involve different processing techniques, which affect their costs and market prices. Due to the greater difficulty involved in processing NM500, production costs are relatively higher; consequently, its market price is generally higher than that of NM400.

NM400 (360–440 HBW), offers the best toughness and workability; suitable for operating conditions involving moderate wear and some impact; a cost-effective choice for routine wear applications.
NM450 (420–480 HBW), features 15%–30% higher wear resistance than NM400 and strikes a superior balance between hardness and toughness; the best value-for-money choice for most applications.
NM500 (470–530 HBW), boasts the highest hardness and superior wear resistance, with a service life 1.8–2.5 times that of NM400 under extreme wear conditions. However, it has the lowest toughness and presents challenges—as well as higher costs—regarding processing and welding; it is suitable only for extreme wear environments with low or no impact.
The choice of wear-resistant plate should be based on a comprehensive assessment of wear intensity, impact loads, processing requirements, and budget.

  • Overseas projects typically require US, UK, or European standards. Can Chinese steel mills produce these?

Major domestic steel mills generally possess the capability to produce rebar meeting various standards. In addition to Chinese national standards, many mills have developed and exported rebar that complies with standards such as those of the US, UK, Europe, and Australia/New Zealand. The key lies in confirming the specific standards required for the target market in advance and selecting a supplier that holds the relevant certifications.
If you have purchasing needs for rebar, you can contact us at any time.

  • What are the differences between left-hand and right-hand anchor bolts?

From the appearance, left-hand and right-hand anchor bolts have different thread rotation directions. Left-hand threaded anchor bolts rotate to the left, while right-hand threaded anchor bolts rotate to the right. This difference may seem minor, but it has different effects in practical applications.
In terms of anchoring force, left-handed anchors have relatively large anchoring force, which can better resist the deformation and displacement of the soil and rock. In some mine roadways with complex geological conditions and poor rock and soil stability, left-hand bolts can play a better supporting role. While right-hand anchor bolts have relatively low anchoring force, they can still meet basic support requirements in some projects where the anchoring force requirement is not particularly high.
Ease of installation: Right-hand anchor bolts are easier to install with some conventional installation equipment, and the installation speed is relatively fast. While left-hand threaded anchors may require specific installation tools and techniques, they offer better stability once installed.
The choice between left-hand and right-hand threaded anchors depends on factors such as the geological conditions and support requirements of the specific project. If the geological conditions are complex and the anchoring force requirement is high, a left-handed anchor bolt can be selected; if the installation speed requirement is high and the anchoring force requirement is relatively low, a right-handed anchor bolt is a good choice.
